We are back from Farpoint, which was held this weekend in Timonium, Maryland just north of Baltimore. It was a great time, and I’m going to put a more detailed review of the con, because it’s very small, but just excellent, but I had to take a moment to squee – just a bit over one thing that happened this weekend:
Oh the Irony…

It is just so ironic, that the week I manage to get the podcast out about my goals for the year, that I’ve completely fall off the wagon. So to be honest – here’s how my goals stand:
Weigh less – I’m off my eating plan and haven’t weighed myself in a week. I’ve also been eating like crap due to the storm.
Knit More – I’ve actually burned through some yarn. I’m another ball in on my cardigan, and I finished up my hats for the Boom Effect. And I started a pair of socks.
Stuff in the Basement – last week – instead of exercising like I had intended, I instead emptied five boxes, and filled three trash bags, and bag for donation. And made sure that stuff was gone.
The Project – I have not been able to bring my self to cook this week. Time is running out, since I’m going to be going to Farpoint this weekend, and will be in a hotel, instead of in my kitchen. I’ve got three of the dishes planned out – so since tomorrow is supposed to be a snow day – maybe I can get at least three done. As for the veggie dish – I may need to catch up with that in a later week. I’m not sure what I’ll do. Read the rest of this entry
It’s been a very non-domestic day

Or rather, a lazy ass Sunday. Other than venturing out to Trader Joe’s and Target, I’ve sat on my ass, wrapped in my Snuggie (don’t judge till you’ve tried one), watched reality TV, and knit on the Jayne hat I’m making for the Boom Effect.
Dan’s making dinner, which is more like appetizers for dinner, and this evening I plan to sit on my ass, wrapped in my Snuggie (it’s has pictures from Kingdom Hearts on it) and finish the Jayne Hat. And maybe play Dragon Age: Origins, because it came from Game Fly.
What I have not done is plan for the Project this week. Could it be I’m already Alton Brown’d out? Well, no – I just didn’t want any complicated cooking today. And unfortunately, most of AB’s recipes can be complicated. and LONG.
So it’s a lazy day. Tomorrow – I go back on the eating plan, start planning for the cooking this week, and cheer myself the hell up. Because I need it.
MA’s Goals for 2010

It’s the day after Christmas, which was quite nice, but for the disaster that the XBox360 has been. The first one red-ringed out of the box. So we got another one. That one won’t play old X-Box games. Sigh. But for the most part, it was a nice day. I have much old TV now to watch, some levels to gain so I can make a Death Knight in WoW, and cooking to be done. But I do need to announce my goals for the year.
Now – let’s get one thing straight. These are not New Year’s Resolutions. They are goals – something to work toward – and you’ll see while they generally have a theme – they are not specific. You could almost say less is more. But I don’t want to give up on them too quickly. So – without further ado: Read the rest of this entry
The Week in Domesticity
Author: MANov 22
…Or something like that. It’s the week before Thanksgiving, and with the Christmas season bearing down on us, I’ve been trying to button stuff around here to get ready for it. We’ve actually finished our Christmas shopping for the immediate family, and now we don’t have that much extended family to buy for.
One thing I did get done this week is the stocking for my niece. There will be a post on that at a later time when I get the chance to take pictures of it. But it needed to get done, so it can hang on the mantle at my parents with everyone else’s. But I’m pleased it’s done, and my craft table has been put away again, so we are on schedule for putting the Christmas tree up on Saturday.
The sweater I’m working on is almost finished the body – I did the short rows in the chest today, and now there is just three more inches of body before I start the sleeves. I’m looking forward to that. Though – usually when I do a sweater – I do one sleeve first. But these should go easily. I am sort of apprehensive about steeking though. I’ve never done that before, and I’m going to have to bring up the sewing machine, but the whole thing makes me a bit apprehensive.
In the mean time, I need to find some yarn to make me a new hat. Found my winter coat for this year, and of course I need a hat to go with it. And I need to start planning my socks – got a new book I’ll talk about at some point. I need to keep the house clean too – we had a showing today, and there is one tomorrow as well. That can be a task in it’s self.
And cooking – today I made potato soup. It was very good, I just need to figure out what the nutritional values are. I’ll run it through a recipe generator on my iPhone, and maybe that will help. And I made bacon-wrapped chicken breasts – which were a big hit with the boys. And brownies. Geekadelphia had a party this week, and I made the brownies – with an HP logo on them.
And now – once this post is done – I need to check out the PS3 game Prince of Persia – that’s what came from Gamefly this week, and if I find the controls to hard, or just not my cup of tea, I need to send it back.
Have a good one. More from me later…
